Lion Roar - Photoetch Armor Plate for Nashorn/Hornisse SPG for Dragon Scale: 1/35
Lion Roar is a Chinese company dedicated to the manufacture of high quality detail sets for plastic model kits. Their products include photo-etched frets, tools, cast metal, turned alloy and resin figures. All of these items are professionally designed, precisely machined, and are dedicated to fit plastic static models from all over the world.
The DML Nashorn and Hornisse kits have been around for a while and most recently the Nashorn was released as a Premium addition with added photo etch, individual tracks and other additions as I previously reviewed. With that kit I had some issues with the armor plating installation for one. As soon as I opened up this set from Lion Roar, I wished I had it when I built the kit. The set is nicely done on 4 frets and has simple to follow instructions accompanying them. There is also some thin brass rod included, my review set had one although the instructions say there are two different sizes.
The main armor pieces look to be well detailed and should be straight forward to assemble. The set also includes the various bolts, handles and other details. The rear doors look to be able to be built with functioning latches and hinges and should really make a difference over the kit doors which I found to be a bit bland. The intake vents basically replicate the ones that come in the kit that are an option and from what I found out the actual styrene vents are closer to actual scale than the photo etch ones. The bonus with the Lion Roar set is though, you don't have to cut out the holes for them, they are already there. They also include some very nice thin coverings for them and the instructions even provide a reference photo of them in use.
The instructions are two sided and colored. The assembly is shown as to not be confusing as some photo etch instructions can get a bit crowded. |
